How to Locate the Best Park City Hotels

Park City Utah is a popular vacation destination, but many people who visit wonder how to find the best place to stay since there are literally hundreds of lodging options. The town does have a few major hotel brands such as Comfort Inn, Best Western, and Marriott but the majority of the best rentals are privately owned homes and condominiums.

These privately owned homes and condos are available for rent through professional management companies or directly through the homeowner. You may even make a reservation through a booking company or central reservations agency which typically takes a commission of up to 25% from the property manager or homeowner.

Experienced visitors often visit the Park City Chamber website to search for information on property managers who offer condos and homes for nightly rental. The chamber is a great resource but they only display the name of the property manager and the user has to search each manager’s website individually and compare potential rentals from one site to the next.

Since there are so many different property management companies, with new ones popping up each year, many visitors end up booking through central reservations or one of the other booking companies. These services can definitely save time but you’re almost certain to pay rack rate since the property managers have to pay them such a high commission for arranging the business.

I recently became aware of a website called www.localtourist.com that specializes in connecting visitors with businesses in the Park City area. Local Tourist is an informational directory similar to the Park City Chamber; however, it allows you to search individual rentals and then contact the property manager directly. You are probably going to get a better deal since they don’t take a commission like booking agencies.

Local Tourist doesn’t just help you find accommodations; the site also allows you to search restaurants, and activity vendors as well. The website has an intuitive search functionality that allows users to search for restaurants not only by cuisine type but also by neighborhood, so it’s easy to find the perfect restaurant close to where you are staying.

No longer just a ski town, Park City now features over 100 restaurants with many receiving top reviews. With so many choices and so little time you’ll want to make use of the search capability afforded by companies like Local Tourist and the Park City Chamber. The Chamber has the most complete restaurant listing as of the date of this article but Local Tourist is a close second. What it lacks in content it makes up for in search functionality and they must be adding new restaurants every day.

If you are an avid skier or someone looking for a picturesque vacation destination away from it all, Park City is a great choice. In addition to world class skiing and snowboarding, the town is home to the celebrity packed Sundance Film Festival, fine dining, spas, and numerous other activities. This quaint little mountain town is also increasingly popular in the summer with attractions such as food and wine festivals, art festivals, fine dining, mountain biking, hiking, and the clean, clear, mountain air. So whether you visit in the winter or summer you are sure to enjoy your stay in Park City, Utah.
